So I've had my D90 for about a year now, I bought it with the kit lens, and had a 10 year-old Tamrom 70-300mm lens I've been using for telephoto shots. Honestly, it's not that great of a lens, and I'm finding I need more zoom for some of what I do.
I don't have a lot of money right now, but was thinking of selling my old D70 w/two basic Sigma lenses (18-35mm and a mid-range zoom I can't remember now) and the 70-300mm to get the intro Nikon 55-300mm lens. I probably can't sell the package to cover the whole cost, but can probably pitch in some $$ on my own.

I've been shooting more action/adventure shots, with a focus on skateboarding/biking. My 18-105mm kit lens works for a lot of stuff, but really am finding I need more zoom to be able to stay in one spot and get boarders from a distance.
Also, I'd like to get back into nature photography (something I used to do a lot), and think this would be a good entry lens for that, a definite upgrade from my old Tamron.
So...would losing my backup DSLR and lenses be worth the upgraded lens?
