Sequoia & Tundra

Gentleman...

I am looking to buy my wife an SUV type vehicle and i am looking at the possibility of buying a 1st generation Sequoia. I have a few questions that maybe you gurus can help me with.

1. Can the sequoia parts be interchanged with the same year tundras? (It would be really helpful since i drive a tundra...)

2. Has anyone attempted to do an expedition vehicle with a seqoia?

Front suspension is the same, as are the front and rear diffs. Engine also. Sequoia's I believe have 4.10 gearing. They are a nice ride and I would think with the right lift and armor it would make a great expo rig, but I have'nt seen one...

I'm pretty sure Bill Burke drives a sequoia as his everyday/expo rig. He also has an ARB bumper on it. It was just shown in the last 4wd Toyota owner mag.

Some insight...

I found out that the 1st generation Sequioa has a tweaked drivetrain and transmission of a 4th generation 4runner. I feel uneasy, taking a vehicle of that size off the beaten path with the smaller drivetrain / tranny...

I was thinking of taking over my wife's Sequioa, but now I'll let her drive this in town, and I'm going with a Tundra Crewmax 5.7L...

Good luck!

aftermarket support just isn’t there

The 1st generation Sequoias are nice vehicles and have some good expedition potential, but the aftermarket support just isn’t there. I put together a Tundra/ Land Cruiser hybrid suspension on my wife’s sequoia just to get a more suitable ride. I have been happy with the results and even my wife mentioned that she noticed how much better the big tree handled .
