Shadow Chaser pop up

I found a deal on a 1996 Shadow Chaser pop up. Anyone have some info on these campers, good/bad/ugly?

It'll be going into a GMC Sierra 2500 Dmax, short bed.

I tried a search, nothing came up.

Are you sure it is not a "Shadow Cruiser" ? We (family business) used to sell them. Nothing bad in particular, just no corporate support. They were billed as a "lightweight", but that means different things to different people. I don't see a current site, so they may have gone under or reorganised.

I hope that helped...

ETA: THIS site lists Shadow Cruiser as going out of business in 1999...which would coincide with when we stopped selling them :)

ETA: RE: Link...click "RV manufacturers", scroll down, click "truck campers"

I also sold and serviced them in the 90's. They are now owned by CruiserRV http://www.shadowcruiser.com/. I thought it was overall a good product. We sold a ton of their truck campers and fifth wheels. Here's a brochure http://www.shadowcruiser.com/pdf/TruckCmpr.pdf. There was a recall on the 1996 models because the weight stickers in many of their products was wrong. Shadow Cruiser issued corrected stickers to those who responded to the recall. But even if the weight is wrong, it's not an issue with your 2500.

Sorta funny Shadow Cruiser story...only because no-one got hurt :)

We had a half dozen TCs in the showroom, and had run out of "bases" to keep them stable. SO...people read, right? We placed signs and "barriers" to keep potential customers from climbing in, on, and about a 9.5 foot hardside, with four legs down. We wrongly presumed that that ought to keep the adults out, at least, and kids won't weigh enough to rock it too much.

Unfortunately, a "big boned" couple fell in love with this model, ducked the rope, pushed aside the sign, and clambered to...you guessed it, the over-cab bunk.

The most un-imaginative person reading this already knows what happened next...nose down she went! I wish I had a pic to share! With much to-do, the camper was righted, the couple, red-faced with suprise, exertion, and embarrassment were extracted, and the camper locked and scheduled for repairs.

One expensive fiberglass nose later, our "demo" camper was eventually sold to happy campers.

I hope you enjoyed my memory :costumed-smiley-007
