Shrinking images on a Mac

I am trying to figure out if there is any way to shrink or change size of images on iphoto. I tend to shoot mostly in jpeg normal or fine to save memory space, and end up with around 400kb files. One thing I want to do is size something for an avatar, which is usually 20kb maximum. Any advice would be appreciated!

1. import the jpeg to iPhoto. I usually drag and drop the image.

2. crop and adjust the image to your taste

3. from the file menu, choose the Export command

4. in the Export dialog box, look for the Size menu

5. in the Size menu, choose Custom

6. enter the value in pixels for the long side of your exported image. iPhoto will adjust the short side so the photo stays in the same ratio as the original.

7. click on the Export button. Enter the name of the exported file and the destination folder.

8. done! :victory:
