Siskiyou Crest/Wymer Glade

This is one of my favorite day trip drives. Nothing too crazy but the Siskiyou Crest area is under attack and may end up off limits to anything with wheels. So my brother and I decided to take what maybe our last trip up there.

The fork at Rd 20 and 22

It's a scenic drive with amazing views of Mt. Shasta (on a clear day), but all of it is beautiful.

A small rock slide from 2 weeks on nearly endless rain.

What used to be a "gate keeper" of sorts is now worn down to nothing but a little bump at the beginning of the Wymer Glade access road

It used to be a small challenge for the ol' CJ 5.

It's just a mellow amble through sub-alpine meadows and up to the treeline and then a bit of a crawl up to the top.

The rocks are small but loose and low range was used to keep any wheel spin at bay, and just to be respectful in case there is any chance for the area to receive a fair review.

Once past the treeline, it's very barren on top with red boulders with black scars from ages of ice.

Sucks to see so many areas around here being locked up. This place is only accessible four and a half months of the year anyway. What a shame.
