Sleeping under a cap (on a decked drawer system)?

Has anyone slept in the bed of the truck on top of a decked drawer system with a capper? I'm planning a week long trip and I'll have a tent but would love to try sleeping in the shell.

It looks like I should have room for an air mattress. I have sliding windows for ventilation.

How do you raise the tailgate after climbing in?

On the cargo slide, I plan to have my ARB fridge, Ecoflow battery, and water containers. The rest of the gear can go in the back seat, I'll be driving solo (but with other vehicles).

I did a week in the back of a 4 door wrangler and it worked just fine, but never tried a truck bed.

Photo below- That's all my home inspector gear, I'll of course take that out for the trip.

Wife and I do it all the time on cross country trips. Topper has tented windows so it's our stealth/low profile camping rig...
Not on Decked system, rather carpeted plywood over 2x6's sitting on the factory ledges meant for them... My platform appears to be higher than the Decked drawers... Our topper is cab height, and with 3-4" foam on the ply, it's a little tight but doable. Decked drawers would lower it a good couple inches, so I think it would be nice for you. We have side windoors, so if it's warm I just prop them open some. If it's buggy, we either suffer bugs or heat...

I close the tailgate before getting in as it's pretty hard to close it after but easy enough to climb over it and onto the bed.

Used to sleep in the bed of my ram all the time. Unless the tailgate was really dirty/muddy, I’d close it and climb through first then close the canopy glass. If it was really dirty, I’d climb in then just reach out and close the tailgate.

Truck cap camped for a decade.

If you have a minimal power station for charging, lighting and a fan, opening windows, a good mattress and sleeping bag you’re good.

A tarp that you can strap across the top of the back and support with two extension poles and stake’s will give you a nice shelter area for shade/rain.

Get a water container with a spigot and a dishpan for a sink.

Have fun.

Just use inflatable/self-inflating sleeping pad or two of them to stack, they are narrower than mattresses and leave more space .
I find tent camping to be much more enjoyable than truck cap.
