I am thinking of putting a basket over my cab to allow for an RTT over my camper.A guy from Austraila on the portalwith a screen name D4Dave had a real nice low profile basket on his. I like the ARB basket. I want it to fit smug and tight on the roof line. Has any one over here in the states seen anythng like this? Or could i adapt an ARB for an FJ Cruiser to fit my application?

Do you already have an RTT on your shell? Got pics?

Keep us posted on your basket ideas. I'm thinking of doing something similar on my access cab.

No i do not have an RTT yet. I am trying to get all my ducks in a row first. Like mounting on the camper or on the roof of my cab. My wife and i are trying to prepair for a three month trip in are truck with are 3 year old daughter, so we are thinking out everything. I all ready have a yakima load worrier on my camper an realy like it, but if i put bars on my cab i think it will be to tall. If any one has Yakima Q towers on their cab could you tell me how high thetop of the bars are off the roof? Thanks.........

I also have the Load Warrior and think it's too high on top of the bars/Q towers.

The Q towers are approx. 3" high. What RTT's are you considering?

Sounds like we have similar plans for our roof area.

I put a rack on top of my canopy. I have an aluminum commercial ARE.
I used "Unistrut" to build the whole thing. It worked very well and it was very cheap. I mounted (2) 6' pieces to the canopy lengthwise with 1/4-20 bolts and sealed them with rubber washers and fender washers on the inside. It hasn't leaked yet. (knock on wood)
The best part is how modular the whole design is. The only pieces that are permanent are the long bars. Everything else can be removed for different uses. I can attach Yak load bars are carry bike, I use it for a lumber rack or for carrying 12ft ladders for work. I think I have less than $50 in the whole rack.

Call me a cheapskate but i am considering a new style mombasa, or the Eezi Awn. More than likley the latter of the two. I can get a decent tent, and an Engel for the price of the EEzi Awn. More money for our trip and other mods...

I've got the same idea in my head, although it is far enough down on my list so that I haven't done any research.

Low profile, hugs the roof line, and fits channel to channel on the Tacoma. Seems like there are probably products out there that could be adapted with some fab skills - I just haven't seen anyone do it yet.
