Slider design help for double cab '03

I am starting on a set of sliders for my truck and I believe most people use 1.5" dia. pipe for them. My problem is I only have access to 1.25 dia. pipe bending dies. Will the 1.25" stuff work if I put more cross tie pipes between the two longer slider pipes. Also what size (width and thickness) do most people use for the U shaped brackets that you bolt to the frame.
Thanks

You should probably get heavy wall DOM tube and you should be okay. It also depends on how rough you plan to be on the truck too! From the looks of some peoples rigs they should be using "I" beams LOL.

I am building my own sliders for 03 tacoma as well and I found these nice bolt-on U-brackets with sleeves that bolt over your frame - http://www.cbioffroadfab.com/index.php . CBI off-road sells them for $15/each with all the necessary hardware. I got 8 for $120 with free shipping. They look nice and very stout! Our frame is wider in the front so he sent me 6 brabkets of one width and 2 a little wider.

It might seem like $120 is a lot for just brackets but for me it was well worth it not to have to spend long hours measuring, cutting, welding, grinding, and gathering all the right hardware on my own. Now I jsut have to cut sliders main tubes and legs and weld them onto the brackets.

those brackets are .25in thick and I could get width and length dimensions if you want

marlin crawler has some nice ones out of 1.75" for under 200, they are weld on, but thats a pretty good deal, it will cost you close to that with buying parts and time

x2 on the CBI brackets - AAMOF, a couple of the pics that vitter posted up are of my truck/sliders/brackets.

IIR - the brackets for the pre-05 tacoma are 3" wide, 3" frame rail width, and close to 6.5" frame rail height.

PS - I have two brackets available for sale. I've been asking for $10/ea but I am missing a couple of the bolts.. I'd be willing to let both go for $15.

As for drilling the frame, it is not required UNLESS you wish to use the self-tapping fasteners that CBi includes. A jole is drilled in the bottom of the bracket. You'd drill into the bottom of the frame rail. See the second picture that Vitter posted.

FYI - My sliders diameter is 1.75" - which I think is typical ???
