Solar panel locations

Hi All,

I saw in an old Autralian 4wd Monthly a truck with two solar panels mounted on the hood.

Is that a viable location for solar panels? I would think that they would cause a lot of glare for the driver.

Any thoughts?

Between glare, risk of damage from road debris and weight, I would think it was a very poor location.

If there's room on the roof, I think that might be a better spot. Plus, it has the added bonus of reducing direct sunlight on the roof, which in turn should keep the vehicle a little cooler.

Otherwise, glare and the potential to block someones view of the trail somewhat would be my concerns.
