I've put everything into this truck with the intentions of keeping it, but we don't use a truck as much as we use to and less so in the near future, so its time to move it on.

This truck is originally from New Mexico via California. It is a very solid truck, and well cared for. It has taken me all over the Ozarks, between here and the Southwest many times, and gets great gas mileage for a 4x4 (20-ish in town, 25 highway). I've put about 40k miles on it, and an incredible amount of time/money into it. It has the original 22r. First year extra cab, straight axle, 5-speed; not something you see every day in this condition. It's a tractor! Extremely reliable and simple vehicle.

Parts replaced with Toyota OEM factory first, or high quality aftermarket if not available through Toyota. 3" ARB Old Man Emu lift, new Cooper a/t tires and spare, KC lights, nice extra cab Toyota topper (fresh hatch rubber and struts, good screens), XD9000 lb. Warn winch, Trail gear bumpers, LCE header, completely new exhaust front to rear, and a high flow stainless muffler. I also have an LCE spiral carb base, and a new drag link from Toyota (currently uninstalled). New Optima yellow top deep cycle battery, new starter, alternator, ignition, coil, Weber Redline carb w/pre-filter and vented float bowl, belts, idler, completely rebuilt front axle, all brake hydraulics, shoes/pads, and lines, two rear U-joints (have 3rd), all fuel lines front to back, fuel pump, filter, and body mounts. Just installed a new windshield. I'm sure there is more I have forgotten. The list is long.

Engine was rebuilt right before I bought it (at about 240k), and the truck placed in an Albuquerque storage unit. The heat dried up the valve stem seals, so I pulled the head and completely rebuilt it (correct valve and seat angle job, valve guides, resurfaced, all new Toyota gaskets). I also updated the timing chain with the metal guides.

Transmission was swapped out 30k ago. Shifts perfectly, no grinds, growls, or noises of any kind... that goes for the entire drivetrain. Engine has no leaks, no smoke, and factory compression. Fluids/grease have been kept up in the entire drivetrain. Even the main frame has extra drain holes and gets flushed periodically, and new outer frame plugs from Toyota to prevent it from getting loaded up with dirt. 4WD works perfectly. Starts and runs like a top; drive it home, wherever that may be.

Interior is in great shape for its age. Exterior just got a full goin over, sanded out all imperfections, removed any filler, fully welded bed seams to prevent rust, re-seam sealed the bed sides and below (like the factory should have done), and put in primer. Needs minor body work and paint. What you see is what it is. This truck has no rust. You will not find a drier truck anywhere around here.

Hey There Travelvw,

Great looking rig. I’m in Springpatch as well and haven’t seen this around. It would have certainly gotten my attention. Good luck with the sale. What’s the next project?

Thanks all. Most folks around here turn these in to rock crawling beaters, so I figure a larger exposure than Craigs might generate interest in someone either continuing to build on this, or simply enjoy it for what it is.

DD, I'm about a mile N of Bass Pro, but I take weird back routes all over town. Truck has been around for the most part since '09. I've had a number of lifted early VW buses and currently drive an '87 Subaru 4x4 lifted w/rack and snorkel... hard to miss it.

Wow this is absolutely beautiful. Exactly what I want! You believe this thing could last me many couple thousand mile trips? Looking to build a camper on the back of a truck like this one. I'm in central Illinois so I would have to fly down there!

It would handle it just fine; always has for me. There are a few small things I would do to prep it for a long trip (adjust valves, replace final rear u-joint, install new drag link). I thought about doing the same (building a camper on the back), but we use the Subaru for camping, now.
