Up for sale is my 1985 Chevy G30 Sportvan with Pathfinder 4x4 conversion, carbureted 350 V8 with dual exhaust. The van has been renovated to be a camper van. The van started it's life as a church van, then sold at auction, and then bought by me and I built up the interior.
Highlights:
Original Pathfinder 4x4 conversion as contracted by Chevy
I had a new rear 1/3 section of floor cut and welded in due to rust, then sealed with sprayable bed liner
bed liner coated roof
floor is insulated with 1" foil backed foam and sub floor frame
walls lined with sound deadening and insulated with denim insulation
Ceiling built with recessed lights with switches in center ceiling console between driver and passenger, insulated with foil bubble packing and lined with sound deadening
Tinted windows - limo tint all around, 30% tint on front two windows
rear bed with foam mattress
pull out storage drawer accessed from rear
mattress lifts up for storage underneath
shelf above mattress/rear seats for speakers and storage
rear seats flip down for storage or access to bed from inside van
kitchen area includes gas burner stove and hand pump sink
storage underneath includes gas for stove and water tank with hose that can be pulled out for easy filling from outside van
sink drainage through drain pipe in floor, under van a hose can be attached for drainage into storage container if camping in public, has valve handle so it can be closed to prevent drafts in cold weather or while moving
cabinet doors can also be flipped up vertically and used as a table
auxiliary power system (there's an extra battery that lives under the kitchen cabinet, it's used to power the radio, speakers, lights, and sub so these can be used without the van running. the van's alternator charges both van battery and aux battery, if the van's battery drops below a voltage, the two batteries disconnect until the van battery is charged to full. There's an override switch that can be used to connect both batteries and essentially jump the van for starting if the starting battery is dead. A solar panel could easily be installed to create a solar charging system)
LED lighting under rear seat and floor perimeter, on/off by a remote on center console
radio/CD player with bluetooth and self-powered sub (sound fills van surprisingly well, even when driving with windows down)
wood panel vinyl flooring
passenger seat can swivel backwards to face rear area (the driver seat has the same swivel option but can't as it hits the 4wd shifter)
cup/pen/change holder (fits a nalgene perfectly!)
hard wired GPS
ski pole handle for when it's time to get rad and throw it in four wheel peel
roof platform for storage or sitting
4 Thule cross bars
ARB roll out awning
2" front hitch receiver
CB radio with a sweet american eagle faceplate
The biggest CB radio antenna I could find
Prewired to the front roof rack for fog lights
New BF Goodrich All Terrain tires and rims
Plus much more!
Mechanics:
The van runs and drives great!
It has about 168xxx miles
Chevy 350 V8, carbureted
It starts reliably and overall is in great mechanical condition
Last summer I took it from WA down the west coast and across to CO without any major issues (see below)
One of the two air smog pumps seized, the pulley was removed and a shorter belt placed to work around the issue. This does not affect how the van drives or runs, so I did not deal with it further. However, it may present a problem when trying to pass emissions tests if your state has them.
The steering is loose, though not awful for a 31yo 4x4 one ton van. I replaced the power steering pump and power steering gear shortly after purchase and this helped the problem immensely, though it's still a bit sloppy.
New radiator fan clutch (the van was starting to run a bit hot coming through NV last summer, a new fan clutch fixed that issue as it was pretty old and obviously didn't work well)
It has AC however it is not connected to a belt (see above, it was in the same belt circuit as the smog pump) I cannot comment on the function of the AC or it's components as I never messed with it, or even turned it on.
Body:
The body is in fantastic condition!
These old work vans are known to be used and abused, but this one is very solid for it's age!
The major rust was in the rear floor, which I took care of (see pictures).
There is a spot of rust on the rear driver quarter panel that should be addressed at some point to keep it from becoming a problem. However, at this point it is about a 1" diameter spot of rust that has bubbled through the paint.
The underside of the driver side rear door is rusty where the seal attaches. This is the worst rust on the van as I believe it was involved with the floor rust.
I speculate the old floor rust was from holes that had been drilled in the roof (maybe for an antenna?) where water had leaked in and down the wall and collected in the back. The screw holes in the roof were fixed and the floor repaired, but the bottom of the rear door needs attention at some point. It does not allow exhaust or drafts into the van at this point.
The paint is a unique shade of light sea foam green, however it's faded and has clear coat flaking in spots with lots of paint chips on the front and mirrors from road debris over the years. Some places, like along door edges, the paint is worn off with either metal or primer exposed.
There are some dents here and there with the biggest being the passenger rear quarter panel on the side. It was scratched through the paint too so I sprayed it w some primer to provider cover as it doesn't pose any issues.
The frame and underside are in very solid and great shape!
The window seals are dried and cracked, could be replaced at some point.
Items NOT included in the sale:
The "keep tips up" sign on the rear door.
Any bedding or personal items noted in pictures along with any kitchen or camping items
The custom rear spare tire carrier (It ended up being a poor fit, so I replaced it with the original rear door tire carrier which is installed now but I don't have any photos of this set up)
Moped, bikes, or front moped rack
Jazzmyn, the dashboard stripper

I've attempted to describe all aspects of the van thoroughly, good and bad, and in detail. Please feel free to message me with any questions!
