How it all started:
The truck was purchased in September 2019 with 282,000 miles by from a couple who owned horses and used the truck for towing their horse trailers. I went ahead to work on the basic maintenance of the truck, such as:
- serpentine belt
- thermostat
- engine oil
- engine air filter
- oil filter
- power steering fluid flush
- water pump
- belt tensioner
- transmission fluid flush
- brake fluid flush
- new brakes and rotors
- new Interstate batteries
- new SS-braided brakelines
- new front wheel bearings
These were all done before any major suspension modifications to ensure the truck was in good working order.
The truck was never really driven around for several months, unless it was going to a shop for professional work.
Around January 2020, I had the truckbed professionally removed and had the aluminum flatbed installed, along with having both axles serviced, both drivelines replaced, and transfer case rebuilt.
February 2020 is when I had the full suspension professionally installed.
The truck barely moved an extra 1,000 miles until June 2020, when I drove it to Juniper Overland to have the Hawk installed. It took several hours to have it completed (mainly due to wiring and drilling).
For the last 5 months, we put a total of 12,000 miles on the set-up from our travels (full-time) around the Southwest area.
The main reason why we are selling the rig is because we found that full-time road traveling is something we no longer value and that keeping the rig no longer makes sense to us.
With so much time, money, and energy spent building this rig, anyone who is looking to build something similar will find this to be a total steal at $55,000.
