Selling my Flippac that I bought used a little over a year ago. It's been great, but I bought a new camper so I no longer need it. This is what I would call the "1st Gen" Flippac, made to fit the pre-Tacoma Toyota Trucks 6ft. bed (some call this model the Hilux), base is 72", but it fits on my 1st Gen Tacoma and any other mid-size 6' truck bed.
This was a restoration project and I haven't finished the restoration, so it does need plenty of TLC, but the price reflects this.
Here's the good:
- These things are nearly indestructible, the shell and tent are good shape (except for some stuff mentioned below).
- The torsion bar is the original and works great.
- I have the original crank (impossible to replace), the original support poles, and the hood pins.
- There are two lights built in and the wiring is intact, ready to be connected.
- I have the original rain fly which is in great shape, and a carrying case which looks original (not sure).
- Includes 1/2" hard rubber bed rail cap (paid about $100, 6 clamps (another $100), a can of fiberglass patch, and my tent tape.
The bad:
- A few cracks and dings in the shell, screw holes need filling.
- The roof section has delaminated in one area, and a few of seams are open (my trusty fiberglass guy says you just pour fiberglass inside and put some weight on it until it dries, and that the seams would have to be opened to do this anyway).
- Tent has some pea-sized holes and a tear in the upper corner.
- The fabric that covers the gap between the front and the back when open is missing.
- Has clearly been bolted on a few beds, so there are many screw holes in the lower bed rail area.
- The screens in the sliding windows need replacing, and a rivet in one of the aluminum slider braces is loose.
- Mattress is long gone. I use my camping mattress.
I bought this for $3750. I'm open to reasonable offers but I don't need to sell this until my new camper is finished, so no low-ballers.
