For Sale: SportsRig Trail Stomper Trailer
Location: 57769 (Black Hills, South Dakota). Potentially willing to meet up depending on timing and distance.
Description: Very lightweight SportsRig Overland Trailer with independent trailing arm suspension on Fox coilovers. Running gear consists of 120/90-16 dual sport motorcycle wheels/tires and are rated for highway speeds or higher. Aluminum tongue, stainless steel box, and steel frame/suspension. Full spare tire/wheel mounts underneath trailer bed and is included. Also included are two stabilizer jacks that slot into the rear portion of frame.
Ground clearance is over 16”, and track width is ~62”. Interior box dimensions are approximately 39”x39”. Weight is approximately 200-250 pounds. Yakima load bars on top are 58” wide, spaced 38” on centers. Yakima bars near tongue are about 33” long, spaced 41” on centers. Tongue is ~63”.
Known Issues: Surface rust on tongue triangle and some suspension components. Some knicks and dings, but no major dents. Stainless steel has some oxidization in spots. Some paint flaking on corners of box. Box is not waterproof. Eight holes were drilled into the diamond plate floor of the box for mounting reasons (no longer needed but are not plugged). To waterproof would require plugging these holes, adding some weather stripping, and sealing the door.
I pulled this trailer from San Luis Obispo to South Dakota, but other than that it has only seen a few small trips in Cali. The most off roading it has done is fire/forest service roads, and I’m confident it can handle much more. I was hoping to pull this through the Kokopelli trail, but I’m recently single and can’t see why I’d ever need a trailer for solo trips. When I pulled it to South Dakota I had ~600 pounds on it, and it towed fantastic. It has had both a Tepui soft shell RTT and custom wedge style RTT on it at different points.
I am the third owner. The owner of SportsRig, John, built this as his personal trailer. He sold it to his neighbor, and I bought it from him in April 2020. It is currently licensed and has a clear title in my name. My post count on Expidition Portal is low, but I'm active on ClubFrontier forum (User: JTD) or Instagram @Final_Frontier2012. I'm more than happy to discuss anything over a phone call, too.
Price: $2,400 or offer
Many more pictures available. I had to compress the pics for the site, so let me know if you want higher resolution ones.
