So I built this with the intention of living in it full time. I poured countless hours into this, attempting to do everything well thought out and carefully. In my opinion, this is still the perfect rig. No propane to refill, solar to support your electronics and every piece of it was built exactly to my specs. Started Nov. 2019 and Finished April 2020 and I took it to a 4wd van conversion shop in Hillsboro Oregon to have them do the 4x4 swap.
Long story short the shop didn't do the swap correctly. Ended up going through shops insurance to get it fixed somewhere else and the insurance elected to total the rig instead.
I'm going to attempt to cover everything done here but im sure I'll forget some stuff.
THE GOOD -
7.3 diesel 73k miles
- T4 turbo conversion Borg Warner 366SXE
- 180cc full force injectors
- Irate diesel Performance plenums, IDP intake Y, custom Y pipe, IDP 4" downpipe
- full 4" MBRP exhaust
- Hydra php tuner
- New glow plugs, GP relay
- new water pump, fan clutch, serpentine belt
- coolant filtration kit (not installed)
- new Adrenaline high pressure oil pump (hpop)
- CNC Fabrication stainless steel braided oil lines
- IDP full fuel system (bulletproof)
- new IPR valve, new ICP valve
- new valve cover gasket and wiring harness
- cab has a ham radio
- two 100 watt solar panels (with room for two more) Renogy brand with matching 40amp MPPT charge controller hooked to a 200amp hour Renogy battery
- wooden slat bed that pulls out to be a full or queen
- LED lighting throughout
- butcher block counter top
- undermount sink
- electric water pump
- 30gal freshwater tank
- 6gal hot water marine tank hooked up to coolant lines so that the water in the tank heats as you drive down the road. Also can be hooked to a shore power electrical outlet
- Wallace diesel stove. This is ran into the 58g fuel tank, and when you shut the lid it pushes heat out with a fan contained in the machinery. Pretty trick. I used this to cook on and for cabin heat. More than enough.
- dometic wall mounted fridge. Big. Holds 2 weeks worth of groceries. Small freezer inside can't remember the model at this moment.
- back up camera style rear view mirror
- led light bar wired up to proper dash switch. On that note, the sirens and light brain have been removed, so no ambulance party lights unfortunately, but the side and rear lights still work on their associated switches (just no flashing).
- there is a ladder on one of the exterior doors to access the roof.
- there is an 8x10 rack on top to store and carry your things.
- rooftop maxxfan over the bed
- 4x4 swap uses f350 super duty axle
- fox shocks including steering stabilizer
- 10k custom heavy duty rear springs (really helps ride quality)
- manual shift transfer case with locking hubs
- new mud terrain tires (can't remember brand) with full size spare.
ISSUES -
Wheels should be replaced sooner rather than later - front wheels have incorrect offset causing 4wd wobble when turning. Rear inner duallys were not torqued correctly and consequently the bolt holes oblonged out on the driver side inner wheel. Truck drives fine but needs this fixed before any long distance trips. Front wheels also need hub centric rings to adjust weight distribution.
The rear driveshaft needs The carrier bearing placement adjusted according to the new length from tcase to rear axle.
The emergency brake was removed. It was originally on the transmission. A new driveshaft style emergency brake needs to be installed.
Air intake is kinda janky. It's works fine but could be re routed to look better. (Very tight engine bay)
WHAT TO DO
You can take this rig - having been totalled - and fix up the suspension, get it inspected and have a sweet exped ambo with a salvage title.
You can take these components and move them over to your chassis of choice. Box is 8x14 and distance from front of box to center of rear wheel wells measures 101 inches.
Engine is a legendary 7.3 with 73k miles on it, it's worth 8k alone.
I would like to get 20k for the whole thing. A brand new 4x4 swap would set you back 18k. I'm open to all realistic offers for the whole vehicle
