some pics and a quick and dirty web site

After doing web work for other folks, and previous aborted efforts at my own web site, I threw this together tonight just to get a few things up and to try a few things.

I'm heading off for a week of vacation, and want to refine it, but figured I'd throw it out there just so folks could see some work ....

for the Baja buffs, the second thumbnail from the left is a trip I took to the Colorado River delta a few years back to look at what remains of the Colorado River (not much).

Again, this is very quick and dirty as I try out Aperture and get a feel for the new to me Flash and Dreamweaver 8 ...

wow!!! cool pictures and the border story - telling things how they are!
do you work as a professional photographer or is this just a hobby? because your pics are truly amazing!

Very nice. Simple and effective. "Less is more."

I love the portfolio-like layout. Good idea for what you do. Not to leave out compliments on your photos (okay, they're fantastic), your sub-pages lack navigation back to your home page.

yup, those are created by Aperture. I need to open them up in Dreamweaver to add a home button, or see if I can modify that in Aperture.

And yes, I've been doing this for a few years. Done some freelance, but mostly have worked at newspapers for 20+ years.

thanks everybody for the feedback. I'm going to be putting more up in the next few weeks, just trying to work the kinks out.

Well done Jeffry, your photos are awesome.

Better to get them out to share and work out the website bugs later.

Jeffry,

I've often taken inspiration from the driving skills you displayed on the Gunsite Pass run last summer. Amidst all the big trucks with all their gear, I'd look around and you always seemed to already be on the other side of whatever the obstacle was- no muss, no fuss- in your little zuke. Understated, simple, elegant...

Your site becomes you.

I like the text accompanying the border series pics- is that yours as well? An illuminating, troubling, powerful, and much needed representation of the reality behind the current immigration "debate".

Thanks very much for sharing.

Thanks for the kind words, and yes, the text is mine.

I've reworked the entire site tonight playing some more ... addressed some of the issues of navigation, and I'm sure created some new ones.

keep looking ... thanks.

Beautiful, compelling, intriguing photography! Every one sucked me in to discover the story it had to tell. Thanks for sharing!

very very nice...can I ask what you think about Aperture? I just finished the 15 day trial period, during which you can't actually create and save web galleries...that's the main use I want from it, so I'm very interested to hear what you think.

My new website is almost ready, I just need to recreate my galleries, the main point to the site, and I'll get it online...

Thanks for any info, and again, wonderful pictures!

Jeffry,

Outstanding photography. Especially "La Frontera" To tell the truth you have to get close, and you did! Great work.
