Spent the first night ever sleeping in my Xterra...

(the winter temps went up over the weekend and we decided to go for a drive through the Adirondacks) and I came across a few items.

1. Curtains - the Xterra has quite a bit of glass, does anyone know of a manufacturer that has some sort of curtain or all around window coverup that I can use?

2. I really need to hook up a second battery, I think I will go with a National Luna remote system with the battery in the back area because there does not appear to be any room in the engine bay (perhaps located at the rear passenger floorboard) has anyone used the National Luna Power Pack?

Thanks
Jeff

Congrats. The Xterra is great for sleeping in. The link below will show you a few pics of me and the wife on our first overnight trip with it last year. If you haven't heard yet the 8 gallon action packers are the perfect size to fill the hole behind the front seats so you have a nice level sleeping area. As far as the curtains go you could probably make something up. I just prefer to get up with the sun.

Nice...

i might suggest just sewing up some curtains yourself, and use some stick on velcro artound the upper rim of the rear cargo area. Then sew Velcro onto some real simple "curtains". That would be a cheap quick solution. Otherwise, maybe mount up a track of some sort around the top and have some curtains made.

I made some "curtains" for my Forester out of HPE and suction cups. You can use the window as a template, cut the plastic sheet, attach the cups and stick them on. No sticky residue from velco and they stop most of the light.

Some great ideas, thanks. The Action Packers are in place and work great.

What is HPE, some sort of plastic?

since dudes can't sew............

I wanted to get the sun off my gear that sits in a row behind my drivers seat. My cooler....food bins.....etc.

I had an oversized lite blue beach towel that matched OK....so I installed that using my ceiling trim tabs. It went floor to ceiling. Corny I know....but it works. I stacked all my gear against it which holds it in place. Then when I would park during the day.....I would always park with the towel/shade facing the sun. Worked perfect!

Then I recently helped a friend move. She owed me a favor. So I said CURTAINS!!

I measured.........she sewed 'em up. They are lite blue because that is what she had......and she lined them with a white backing fabric. I installed them using a adjustable mini rod that you can by at Wal Mart so I wouldn't have to drill any holes for now. The rear curtains are actually running along a fat bungie cord.

The passenger side you see in the pic has 4 pieces. Two pcs. per window. The rear has two pcs. I love having the rear to help keep the sun off my cooler!

It's not hard....just sit in your truck and look around and think for a minute.

Better than curtains. I added 20% aftermarket tint to my factory privacy glass. It is nearly impossible to see into, but you can still see out of it very well. Gets VERY dark at night, and doesn't get too bright during the day.

Only drawback is reversing at night can be a bit of a challenge, but you get used to it very quickly.

I was thinking about that yesterday, did you place any tint on the rear window, and if so, do you recall the %?

BTW, I'm a former Kodak employee and I visit friends up that way often, hope to meet you some time on a UNYX run.
