Yep, my mother-in-law has a set for her 100. She changes between the splits and the alloys for winter and summer use. The splits are great.
I have a lot of experience with Toyota split rims and here are my thoughts:
Split rims are heavy: TRUE
Tubes are hard to find: FALSE
Only to be used with tube tires only: FALSE
Old technology: MAYBE, but why does Toyota continue to produce vehicles with them? Because they work and they work great. They are easy to assemble & disassemble in the field and they are not dangerous like the old split rims from the 50's and 60's on US model trucks. In 3rd world & other countries where a flat tire could literally leave you stranded to die in the bush, people want to be able to change their own tires easily.
Also, they are just plain cool. In the US, people like myself run them to be a little different. You are not going to see many of them around, especially on the 100's. I have two sets of split rims; 1 set on my 45 pickup and the other set is going on my 55.
I guess they are not for everyone though. If anyone is interested in a set for a 100 or any other 5 on 150mm Toyota bolt pattern, PM me. I have a lot of them from 79 series Land Cruisers.
