Started building a roof cargo rack

I had lots of scrap metal from other projects sitting around for quite a while so I decided to fab up a roof rack. I got the idea Saturday night and started building on Sunday afternoon. I wish I would have started on Sat, then I think I could of had it all wrapped up... Pretty happy so far...

I started with this:

And this is how it sat about 2 hours before we called it a day:

Looking good so far. Does it mount onto the luggage rack rails?

It is sitting on them in that picture and it may get u-bolted to them for a bit, But I have 1/4" thick angle iron that is going to get cut up and make brackets that mount it to the rails in the roof.

That is one sweet first generation, Have you lifted it? What tires are you running? The roof rack looks great too.

Thanks man, Ya its a small lift 2/3 and the tires are 285/70/17

Got it all done last night. It's sitting on 1/4" brackets that are lag bolted to the OE roof rails...
