Jan-

Depending on the baby situation I would love to join in for a portion. Wendy is due in June, so it might hinder any travel plans. I'll keep you posted. I still think that the Ruicon might be possible?

Not sure when I will be down your way but thinking of leaving around June11 still planning it through...should be able to give you an ETA by end of this weekend. Plan on spending a few days in the Phoenix/Mesa, Prescott areas then in to some serious Indian expeditions.

Hotel Rock and Arch Canyon in Southeast Utah would be worth a definite stop. In addition to the Arch Canyon & Hotel Rock ruin sites, there are a half dozen others within a 10 mile radius worth exploring. I would highly recommend checking out the ruins just a couple miles east of Comb wash too, short hike to some really neat ruins in a small alcove. I'll post some maps if you need them...

I highly recommend seeing the Hovenweep National Monument. BajaTaco has a great writeup on the area:

Canyon de Chelly National Monument is also high on my list:

http://www.nps.gov/cach/

Both areas are somewhat off the beaten path...and that's always a good thing.

The Zuni Pueblo south of Gallup, New Mexico is also a facinating place to visit, and the jewelry, stone fetish carvings, and pottery are some of the finest found in the southwest.

Had a chance to meet with Jan last night... he stopped into town to meet with Paul May from Equipt (Paul took care of him ;)) and Paul had invited me to join them for dinner :D

Jan ended up crashing at my casa last night, so we had plenty of time to chat about some of his upcoming destinations and route itinerary (can you say anal retentive ;), he is truly an engineer).

I am extremely jealous of his 2 months to play in in the Southwest.... we are hoping to show him around the San Rafael Swell sometime in July... I'll open the invitation to any of the ExPo folks that would like to come out for a couple days. Jan won't know when his trip will put him in the SR Swll area quite yet, but if your interested let me know and I will keep you updated.

Best of luck Jan!
