Swapping E350 Body?????

In my quest to make my 1994 airstream B190 4wd I have been looking at all of the different options and wonder if anyone has swapped out bodies? I have found a few 1997 and up E350 Diesels with decent miles and that are already 4x4 (quigley) the price difference (savings) from just a 4x4 conversion is pretty significant. My question is will a 94 gas body fit onto a 97 or newer diesel chassis? Or will I have to find a 94-96?

I don't have any answers for you, but I love this way of thinking, so I'll be staying tuned to see what the experts say.

I did it a number of years ago to an older E350 so can comment on going from 94 to 97 or newer. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/62776-4x4-Camper-Van-Project-Body-Swap

One of the tricky aspects of removing the body on a fully camperized unit is locating the body bolts under cabinets, couches, and the bath etc and then once you get under those items then making sure you hole saw the exact spot through the wood sub floor exposing the body bolts. Going from same year to same year but with different motors was enough of a wireing issue. All things can be done with time a patience, the question is would it be worth it?

Sounds like a huge PITA! Definitely a project. Especially the wiring, being that its already a camper means its been hacked and added too. Changind years and motors will make things even worse.

Im sure its doable, but how much time do you want to spend without a rig trying to get it all working?
