Below is a link to a trip report to the outback of Death Valley. The rigs were a good comparo:
1. 1999 Ford 2 series, diesel, 6 speed manual, long bed, 9.5 foot OUTFITTER! pop up.
2. 2001 Dodge 2 series, Cummins, 6 speed manual, short bed, 8.5 foot Lance Lite hard side.
The trip was a lot more exciting than it seemed on paper.
In it are pics of many Expedition Vehicles than we ran into along the way.
