T-Top input

I'm thinking of getting a Eezi-Awn T-Top 1400. Here's some info on our family and use: husband.wife, 5 year old daughter. Two medium large dogs that go on local trips but not usually longer ones. Defender 110. the tent will be over hte back door

My questions:
1. How easy is it to get the added room clipped in in the rain? (we live in Washington)
2. How often do you use the extra room feature?
3. Is there any problem opening the rear door, realizing not everyone uses it on a Defender?

That's about it. I'm debating between the normal and T-Top versions. My thoughts for going with the T-Top is mainly the dogs and comfort in the rain. If we go with a roof top the dogs will probably sleep in the truck. If it's raining, they will be wet and smelly, which isn't optimal. That's one thing I like about the T-Top as they can sleep in the extra room and not smell up the truck. But if you end up not putting on the room most of the time, was it worth the extra $$$. I also like the idea of having a place to stand up and change clothes or shower.

Any thoughts appreciated!

For primarly rainy camps, the T-Top is ideal with the added skirts. Both sides of the Eezi-Awn are equaly easy to open. With the T-top even if you do not use the skirt sides it provides some protection from the environment, and in this case rain. Similar to the picture here you can see how it provides protection along with the pro's you listed above, where as the 1400 with added skirts would leave you exposed similar to here.

The bottom line is that is up to you to decide what works best for your camping settings and budget.

Unfortunately, the T-Top will not fit on your D110

I suggest that you keep the tent and we trade trucks then you can install the tent on your new 80 series!

I will then install my Mombasa onto MY new D110 and live happily ever after!

Sounds like a no brainer!

I like the T-Top idea PWC, with the Add-a-room. Then you would have a "wet" room to transition to the RTT, even have a PETT toilet of similar at the bottom of the ladder, shower, etc.

Cool concept :lurk:

This thread is a little old but it seems like a good place for this follow up post. I've got the 1600 T-Top on order after much contemplation but am not sure yet how well it will fit on my Horizon which will have 33's. Any pics of the bottom of the add-a-room and inside area would be appreciated as well as any first hand knowledge of how adjustable the height is. Does it roll up like the windows to adjust length? Does it stake down? Inquiring minds want to know. I have similar plans to what EW quoted - Pett toilet and a small rollup table or two for stuff like clothing, collapsible sink, etc. Thanks.
