These were used by EOD (Bomb Disposal) to transport their personnel and equipment in N.Ireland. They are armoured and powered by a Perkins diesel engine. Whilst being a Pinzgauer owner I see the attraction of square functional vehicles I do not think this would be any good for converting to expedition use in any way at all!
They are made by Alvis, now part of BAE Systems. Popular export vehicle for Police forces where the locals aren't too friendly!
For expedition use you would surely want a lighter vehicle.
Tactica GVW 11 tonnes and it is only designed to carry 8 passengers and 2 up front. A 710m Pinzgauer can do that (1 tonne payload) and has 2.5 tonne GVW. To lighten the truck's weight you would need to remove the whole body and glazing, so what you have is a chassis! For the money you could get something much more suitable. There may be import/export and purchase restrictions as well because it is armoured.
