Hmmm....
A recent disagreement between my rooftop tent and the concrete beams of a parking garage in LA has me seeking the collective wisdom of the interwebs. :Wow1:
After extensive inspection and re-assembly this weekend, it appears that I've escaped from near tragedy. With only 6-8 small round holes in the travel cover of my Tepui Ayer.
I know that I could buy a new cover, and may do that some day, but for now it seems like the holes are worth patching.
Are there any suggested repair kits or methods out there? I don't have to deal with stopping a rip, only patching what look a lot like .22 caliber bullet holes.
For those interested, I think that the tent opening to the rear saved me from significant damage. The tent appears to have been forced "more closed" as it ran under the beam, meaning that the little screw heads on the ladder caused sections of the cover to be stripped off as the tent dragged under.
The long and short of it is that parking garages with no "exit" or "turnout" really suck. There were 2 lanes of traffic channeled into this garage with no escape and bumper to bumper traffic moving about 25 mph in each lane. I had about 20 seconds between realizing it was a garage, the sign said 7'2", and ther were 2 beams between me and the first pullout. Getting out involved partial disassembly of the tent and airing down to 12 psi.
It was comical to be sitting in a line of Masarattis and Aston Martins at the service station while I explained to the guy that... "yes, I do know all 4 tires are dangerously low... That is why I'm paying for full serve gas and air..."
Thanks for any knowledge you can drop on me.
Nate
