If you go to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and get to the town of Cherokee, make time to drive 12 miles to visit this hidden gem of a store; Bearmeat's Indian Den. You can Google it to see exactly where it is.
This was my first time inside the store and it has some really cool things to look at. Real skins of Coyotes, Bobcats, Foxes and Possums, all turned into coats, hats and other things. I strongly recommend a visit to this store if you are in the area. I am sure you will enjoy it.
America The Beautiful park pass. It expires this month, November 2022. I wish to give it to someone who will honestly use it to enjoy the savings.
It is completely FREE to you. I pay for shipping.
If anybody is interested and plans to actually use it this month to visit one or more national parks, feel free to PM me your number and I will text you for your address. I will endeavor to mail it out today. Hopefully it reaches you in time for you to put it to use before it expires.
Another hidden gem in Pigeon Forge: Parrot Mountain. It is worth a visit if you like birds and especially Parrots. It cost $27 for an adult and $3 to have a nice experience of them giving you a small cup of nectar in a enclosed cage and some small sized Parrots would fly to you and drink all the nectar. A nice experience if you go, but be warned if you are not used to birds, you would be very scared when they all fly towards you and land on your hand to drink the nectar.
Parrot petting area. This is where they let you feed and touch some of the Parrots.
And this is the nursery where they raise the baby Parrots.
Last Day of vacation and last day in Pigeon Forge. I took a very scenic drive to Cades Cove. Pictures along the way.
If you go to Cades Cove and want a very scenic, very curvy, very steep and mountainous drive back to town filled with scary drops offs, then make sure to ask for Rich Mountain Rd. Take this road to get out of the park for a very scenic drive. It is a gravel road and worth the drive and experience. This was my first time on the road. It was a very nice and quiet drive. It ia a one way drive for about 8 miles on gravel road. Just look at the views below of Rich Mountain Rd. It is a worth the drive.
My vacation ended yesterday. I left my hotel at 4:30am to drive halfway for about 8 hours and stay the night in Meridian, AL, to complete the remaining 6 hours the next day to get home.
But along the way. I was making good time and decided to just drive straight 15 hours to Houston. I was impressed I got home at 7pm, without even going fast.
My trip in figures. The picture below shows total miles driven for the trip and mpg.
Days on trip: 10 days
Total miles driven: 3,236 miles
Consumption: 41.8mpg
Cost of gas: $235.19 for 78.5 gallons of gas used.
My 2020 Honda Accord Hybrid did great! This is the cheapest car I have ever owned and the most fuel efficient and economical car. No other car I have ever owned comes close to how economical this car is. I just love it. Gives me more opportunities to hit the road whenever the opportunity presents itself and worry less about cost.
