After 14 years of a 7.3 6spd DD f-350...I've officially started the search for a 4x4 van ..:sombrero:Little backstory.I've always had a soft spot for any 4x4 really. My dd is a 7.3 and will continue to be,camping rig-97 fj80 40th on 33's and starcraft 13 r/t,evening and weekend ride- fj40 SMB 350,detroits, aussie 4spd and orion 4-1. Also had a vw's too over the years. I'm just starting my search and open to a v8 gasser or diesel( maybe even a 6.0 as 7.3's getting scarce). Not looking for a full on decked out camper with stove, sink etc,….i'd rather have the open space inside(plus it may pull double duty on job site).Really looking for something simple inside and out. Budget is kinda all over the map. If anybody knows of any or is contemplating selling please keep me in mind.Thanks-Cody PM's or cmdcarpentryATyahoo..the hunt's half the fun:bike_rider:

Several years ago I'd agree with ya…but i've seen enough around now that have been bulletproofed with not AS many issues.Don't get me wrong ,I absolutely love my 7.3 ,it's been a tank with zero issues(200k and counting)and that would be my preference for sure, but I wouldn't rule out the RIGHT 6.0 with good history.

I was referring to just working on it for basic stuff. It's many times harder than the 7.3
But it's your $ and time, carry on.

Had a few possibilities ….but still looking. Budget is 20-30k for the right one.Not ruling out gassers and leaning towards 12 or 15 passenger.

The biggest problem with the 6.0, and really any of the "modern" diesels, isn't the reliability. In the case of the 6.0 that can be addressed with enough cash, but the cost of repair is ridonculous. Bulletproofing a a 6.0 thoroughly and the right way is not cheap by any stretch and when something goes wrong, and it will bullet proof or not, they are bank account busting expensive to fix.

Ive owned 3 and still own one. Runs like a beast but I know sooner or later it's going to take a bite own of my wallet just like the others. My 6.4 cost me almost $8,000 when the fuel pump went south and that was a screaming deal compared to what the Ford garage wanted to fix it.

Think long and hard about the newer diesels because if they aren't earning you money they can break your bank. Unless you REALLY need one the risk of ownership is too great for the average Joe.

But as was said...your time, your money. :)
