The most dreaded Land Rover of them all…the P38!

After owning this vehicle for a few years and a series of unfortunate events this 1999 P38(Yes, I know there is debate on calling them that)is now my daily driver. Yes, I’ve read the negative threads on here and we have already had our own pains with it. Like being on the trail and the heater core exploding burning my wife’s feet in the process. Anyways, anyone know a source for lug nuts that won’t cost me 200 dollars, and why is it so hard to find a roof rack for this thing? Oh and who ever decided it should leave the factory without tinted windows should be punished.

Well tinted windows were not generally a factory option in 99. And a roof rack for those it tough, I think you an pretty much only use the style that "clips" the top of the door sill.

I think but do not for sure, but I think Discovery 1/2 use the same size lug nuts so maybe a wrecker?

Just google, there are racks for them. Voyager is one.

My Holland and Holland P38 cost about 1k/year average maintenance.

P39 are very nice vehicles when they run - but LR went a bit too far with ECU's etc. when they were not really read to do so and it shows..

As with everything, maintenance is your friend and I know several here that have some serious miles on the clock without too much problems.

I prefer the DII's simply as they have more room inside and don't need the image.

Good Luck !
