The right shock for a lifted van?

Since nobody offers a shock for a lifted E van...or should I say 6" lift 4X4 van, what's the most common approach to choosing a suitable shock?

I guess I'm putting the cart before the horse a little? I don't have my suspension built yet, so I can't measure droop and compression yet. Someone's offering me a great deal on 6 fox 2.0's that were valved for duals up front. Just trying to gestimate how useable they might be for me. Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

it sounds like you're building your own lift kit? You might check out performancetrends. They have some suspension geometry calculators (and a bunch of other neat programs.) There is always an annual group buy at speedtalk, but it's normally for the engine calcs.

If the price is right and you think they will have enough travel you can make them fit by making new mounts...you really are just wanting enough shock travel as you can make mounts to fit with some work.
Since these shocks are rebuild-able and re-valvable I would get them. Since they are rebuild-able you will be able to get the valving just the way you want. If you are making your own suspension you should be able to rebuild shocks easy.
You can always resell them.

Really good advice! Yes, building everything from scratch. 4 link with track bar. So far all I've done is spend a bunch of money on parts and do lots of daydreaming and web research. Too many projects too little time! Hope to make the van undrivable soon, lol.
