Thinking of going from hard storage to soft side storage

I recently got rid of my 2006 Jeep LJ that had a Tuffy storage system in the rear. It was great but it did take up a ton of space. I replaced the LJ with a 2010 JKU and not sure if I want to give that much space up semi permantelly .

Then I would be able to load and unload all my gear if the need arised. Your thoughts?

I have the Tuffy Security deck in my 2010 JKU. It's great because it pops out in a heartbeat when not needed and the rest of the time you have a secure area (not a drawer like you had before) to keep things from vanishing when you are using the soft top. Also, separates the rear area into two levels for storage.

It's one of the best mods I've done to my JK. You can still do the duffel thing if you want but at least they won't be able to walk away easily when you are not with your Jeep.

I have seen a custom version of the Big Oxx. (Paul at Equipt1 had a kitchen bag made up). It was fantastic. Extremely well made. I note on the web page the little chrome rings at the bottom of it that would allow you to tie it down into the cargo bay, but only one side. If they will add loops on all four corners so that you can strap it down securely, that would really alleviate my biggest concern. The next minor concern would be related to sharp tools. I put most all my tools in tool rolls from Duluth Trading company, but claw hammers, hatchets, and misc other items have the potential to poke through things. Maybe you can ask them to make a pocket with thin plastic inserts between material dividers for sharp tools. I'm 100% confident that they'll make whatever you want, so don't let this simple bag limit you. Made in USA has many advantages. Take advantage of that!

Red Oxx bags are Top of the Line!!! I bought my mother a bag from them for christmas. Plus several friends use their bags heavily... I use and sell Watershed bags, of Asheville NC, for inside and rack mounted bags, very useful. Red Oxx isn't making the "kitchen bags" that Equipt has, unless you pay the enormous inconvenience fee. They are very labor intensive to make and they are just keeping up with the huge demand for their regular product. Killer attention to detail.

We have been using the Kelty Binto bags for several years now. I think Target even caries them now. Soft sides a great to stuff into odd shapes and fold down when not in use. The thing that sucks about them is they fold down and dont hold there shape in use as well. But they are quiet and cheap to replace.

For anyone interested I contacted Red Oxx about doing a few custom things to one of their expedition bags and they said they can not do anything custom.
