We have a Built VW Syncro. Hightop, Tuned TDI with S7 turbo + injectors, All updated running gear custom control arms, BMS upper and lower control arms, 930's CV's, rear lockers, big break kit, re-geared trans, 12,000lbs winch. Dual swing outs with box and two full size spares, awning tent room, kids bunk over the front seats, gel mattresses for all 3 beds, You name it we have done it. This is a fraction of the list. Oh, and it is in perfect condition. Zero rust. Near perfect original paint.

Not our first van, Our kids have grown up in syncro's. We just did 20,000mi all over the western US and all the way to Oaxaca Mexico and back. Did a ton of trail in Moab, did as much of black bear pass as was open in Telluride... The rig can go.

But My 12 year old daughter is like 5' 11" and growing still. My son has out grown the front bunk, and we are crammed.

Thinking of selling and looking at something Big like a Dodge 2500 AEV build with a Four wheel camper... What are peoples thoughts? Figure out how to make the van work somehow... or think about selling.... ?

There's a lot of options, but, 4 full full size humans and all their stuff ,square footage will be about the same in a large camper.
Have you given any thought to a 3/4-1 ton full size van, extended box, pop top?
A van will give you more power to pull a little gear trailer.
Food for thought.

I've had many syncros and still have a soft spot for them. When i got tired of more wrenchin than using i put a four wheel camper hawk full camper slide in on my existing 1st gen tundra. Hawk eventually moved to a RAM 2500. i think 1st gen tundras are one of the best trucks ever made but the 3/4 ton 2500 was much happier with the FWC. I miss both trucks dearly (sold the FWC and eventually the 2500 for a smaller daily driver truck). I ended up working for FWC for several years as a shop manager and been in hundreds of them of every configuration. So i will advise that 4 full size humans in a FWC will not be fun, doable but not ideal. pretty much only way is with a flatbed and brother and sister better get along

I am guessing you realize how terrible a time it is to sell a syncro.
If not , take a look at the Samba classified and Bring a Trailer. I would hold on to it for a few years if you possibly can. Too bad your daughter is not old enough to drive yet. To me , four adults need two rigs
