by way of introductions, I have a rudimentary understanding of electricity, I'm no master by far. I usually know better than to zap myself, but not always I have a Masters in Renewable energy, so I am rather familiar with PV cells and systems. What I'm wondering is if I can manage what I think I can...
I have a couple of Duracell (rebranded Xantrax) powersource 1800 units. From my research they are basically a UPS box. However, a previous owner added a morningstar MPPT unit to each of them, along with a heavy duty 240V plug (I was told he used these to connect his solar panels) now, at this point they are ready to connect to either 110V with their original plug, or solar via the MPPT. The downside is the batteries themselves have crapped out. So 3 12v 17Ah cells wired in parallel means I'm dealing with a 12V system vs 24 or more. My question (or first one anyway ) is should the hardware be able to deal with pretty much any battery attached to the internal leads? i.e. can I get a really nice 100AH AGM deep cycle or two and connect the UPS system to that?
My thinking is it already has the solar input, as well as the 110V for chargingi, which is then connected to a 15W inverter for five 110V AC outlets on the front. Basically all my work is done for me, except connecting a solar panel and isolating the van's load from the starting battery (which would be another of my questions...), and adding a direct takeoff for some 12V utilities
Thanks for any advice up front, and feel free to call me out for being a ************** if I'm way off my mark
