I am still dealing with a lot of rubbing with the 33" tires, even after a 3" suspension lift. It appears that a 1" body lift and either more backspace on the wheels or wheel spacers will fix much of the problem. Does anyone have any words of caution on doing a body lift? Is there any compelling reason to avoid it?

A suspension lift will not prevent rubbing when the suspension is fully compressed. This may be prevented or minimized with the proper backspacing and body and/or frame trimming. A body lift (BL) may help reduce rubbing on body but not frame or suspension components so you need to figure out what is rubbing before taking corrective action.
Regarding body lifts. I did a 1 inch BL over a year ago and have not had any problems with it (I wheel my truck often but moderately). That said, by coincidence, just last night I had a dream that my BL caused the body mounts to fail on the frame. So somewhere deep in my subconscious lies the "doubt and fear" that I "did the wrong thing".
What I learned is that there is enough nay-saying on body lifts to at least damage the peace of mind that we all seek while vivisecting our trucks way beyond factory specification and driving them on trials that make sensible people turn arround.
Therefore, my advise is to only do BL if backspacing and body and/or frame trimming don't address the problem.
