Throttle Body Spacer

I think I saw a thread on the throttle body spacers but I am unable to find it. I am getting a larger throttle body and I was wondering if anyone has used a spacer and are they worth their salt?

Thanks,
Steve

The only way i ever see it worth the money... is when it's combined with exhaust, intake and maybe a chip. Other than that.. i doubt you'll notice anything.. maybe a little bit better throttle response and a hair better gas mileage.

What are you putting it on? If you have a direct injection engine, a TB spacer will make absolutely zero difference. If it's a TBI, like an old 5.0L Chevy or something, it could be argued to make some difference, but I'd have a hard time believing that it would be observable in the real world. But since most cars are directly injected, it's not going to do a single thing except make the path the air flows a few cm longer.

I plan on stroking the engine adding a 62 mm throttle body, headers and a ram air system. This is all going on a 2005 Rubicon and what Dave said is what I heard but I want to get as much advise as possible and as many ponies as possible out of the engine.

The theory behind throttle body spacers is sound, but they are basically snake oil. On an engine dyno you may see a little peak in the curve, but you will never feel it with the Butt Dyno. They sure do whistle nice though! Save your money and get something that will make a differece. I just installed the Edge Trail Jammer w/62mm throttle body, I can feel a definite increase and power. Unfortunately I did that at the same time as installing 4.88's so I don't know what kind of impact it had on my fuel mileage.

Well, thanks for all the great information, I guess I will not get a spacer and then be able to buy another gallon of gas..
Some sites really make you think that the spacer is the way to go with horsepower and improved mileage. Just goes to show you that asking helps a lot.
