Tire recommendation: Infrequently used F250

I have a 2006 F-250. It gets driven maybe 1,000 miles/year. I typically only drive it when I specifically need a pickup (dump runs, taking the family camping, driving down the beach, hauling firewood).

It's time to replace the tires. I live on the Oregon coast (see wet and muddy), and about the most demanding thing I do with the truck is drive down some old logging roads to get some firewood. The roads can be pretty gnarly and washed out.

I think I want an aggressive mud tire. I don't need a good warranty or long tread life (I'll probably sell the truck before I even get close to wearing the tires out).

I care about:
  • Offroad performance
  • Price
I don't care about:
  • Road noise
  • On-road handling
  • Warranty
  • Tread life

Every mud terrain I've had worked similarly off road. The differences were most apparent in their street manners. If you don't care about that, just pick a cheap one.

What size tires?

There are some big, cheap bias ply tires and unless you are on pavement radials really have no advantage.
