tires tires tires you have all heard this before

I had Falkens for 88,000 they were great but then I wanted something bit more aggressive but not mudders so went with Kelly safari all terrain. They were fine at first but now they are howling like an haunted coon hound or worse. SO I am thinking I am gonna sell these they have about half the tread life left. and maybe get something new, But I don't want to pay no 300 per tire. and I want something that when it is half worn isn't gonna howl like crazy I am in so cal so not much mud let me hear you suggestions

Coopers are looking pretty sweet. maybe that new ridge runner from Nitto?

You will get two main responses: Cooper ST Maxxs or BFG KO2s. My vote is the Maxxs. They are pretty neck and neck with KO2s but I hear the Maxxs have a better tread life.

Other than that, what are you looking to get out the tire besides them not sounding like a coon hound at half tread? Gotta pick the tire that best suites your situation. Sounds like you want an aggressive AT with good road manners that wears well.

From an old tire guy, rotate your tires and have an alignment done and then play with your tire pressure. I have been running K Springfields for years and I get no noise from them.

Apples and oranges maybe as my old Jeep is probably lighter than yours and my KS tires are probably an older generation so we get back to what you are running for tire pressure?
I run up to 22 psi on the highway or when I tow it. Around 18 psi in town and around 12 psi or less when off road. No, I've never had a tire dismount on me off road.
The neighbor girl drives home from work in her Jeep and I know it is her from the tire noise from the, I believe Goodyear Discoverer APT (?) tires.

I do rotate then every 10 k but for some reason this time they are loud.

You need to rotate at least every 5k man. 10k is too long. Also, if they are non directional cross the rear as they go to the front & bring the front straight back. That way each tire rides on every corner eventually. This will make an improvement in tire wear. BTW my vote is for the BFG KO2

+1 on rotating at 5k max, 10k is too long.

Other than stock tires I've run the Toyo OC MTs and Duratracs on our Jeeps.
The Toyos:
Pros: Great off road, long mileage. At 55k and still tread left
Cons: They're HEAVY and pull slightly to the right at highway speeds

Duratracs:
Pros: Quiet, great on rain & snow. Mileage appears to be OK, at 20k now with no signs of wear
Cons: Not as great off road as the Toyos

Good luck, tire decisions are one of the toughest to make.

I never let anyone touch my rig and definitely would not let them rotate the tires. I am a stickler for proper torque and never using an impact on studs.

180k miles a year would be impressive. My commute has me at 2500 or so miles a month n that's plenty with the other typical 1000 or do miles a month.
