Titan pro 4x

I looked and I can't seem to find much on this truck in here. Is it because of the size?

It has skids and rear locker from factory so it seems like a decent start.

Well anyway I just wanted some opinions on this truck and see if anyone had any experience with it on the trails.

Thanks.

My mom has a Titan and I have taken it to the desert and mountains many times. Its not the Pro-4x, she got one step below that. Two things about it that I hate is the turning radius and how cheap the interior is. I always find myself making numerous point turns just to park the dang thing. The interior to me is very cheap...all the cup holders are broken, the A/C vents are broken so its hard to direct air. Also I dont think the seats are very comfortable.

The things I like about it are the power and the locker. The truck has done everything we asked of it and we have really used that truck for what a truck is supposed to do. We have towed out Mastercraft wakeboard boat 12 hours to lakes in Northern California. We have towed a trailer full of dirtbikes and camping gear to the desert and mountains. I have taken it down some moutain trails and had to use the locker to get around/over some obstacles. We have loaded it down with junk and make dump runs... all this has been done while having it be a DD for my mom.

We have had to replace the rear end twice... The first time I believe was pre mature and shouldnt have happened because it happened at about 15k miles. The second time was at 120xxx and I understand with the work load we put on it, its bound to fail.

Oh, and the sound system was really nice when we got it....but its all blown out now (Ill take the blame on that one)

I'm not sure as to why there are not many of them on here...Im pretty sure there is tons of aftermarket support for it... but then again not many overland vehicles are trucks...

I've only seen Titans wheeling on trails twice. Once was in a GONE Moab advertising video from....2011 I think?

Since I own an Xterra, I do not have personal experience with a Titan. There is a bit of aftermarket suspension support. Just type in "off roading Titan" in google and you'll see what I mean.

Greg at PRG has a Titan and has modded it quite a bit. Here's his website: http://www.prgproducts.com/

I cannot say why Titan owners do not post up in here about the mods and overlanding they have done.

Id love to swap my Xterra PRO4X for a Titan PRO4X. but thats just because it will fit my needs better. there is less support overall, but its till good. Heftyfab.com has 2 skids for the titan. Nisstec.com has lift stuff for them. Stillen makes a supercharger for the 5.6 v8.

If i ever get one, ill build a roof rack incorporated camp shell for the back. add a CVT RTT, 2" suspension lift, 1-2" body lift, 35's, front ARB, full recovery gear, and enjoy it!

DO IT!

The Titan is a decent truck with the earlier models known for a weak rear end. The aftermarket isn't as strong as the competition but it really depends what you want to do with the truck.

Where are you located? Out west full size trucks an get by, but here in the east the length is a huge liability. I always thought my cruiser was a pig on the trails till I went out with an excursion and a raptor on 2 different occasions and proceeded to watch both destroy body panels.

Thanks.... Good suggestions. So this truck would meet your needs? What are the needs? Carry more gear? Larger towing? The thing I do like about the Titan is that it is not a large as the other 1/2 ton trucks. They are all huge now. For a truck it Will get the job done, but it feels smaller than all 3 of my Chevy z71's and my Tundra did. That's not a bad thing. Great room in the cab too! I just thought with the rear locker that guys would have these Titan's out there on trails?

I'm in TX working now but I'm from KY and spend time in GA and NC.

You'll be able to get around Texas fine, if you like your paint though stay off the trails in the east. It's pin stripe city, and some of the trails get pretty tight.

I know ARB makes a front winch bumper for the Titan and I believe there are air lockers available from them. I'm not aware of any sliders, or skid plates though. I'd recommend you get a solid set of sliders if you plan on hitting the trails. The land cruiser is at least a foot shorter and I find myself using mine quite frequently. They're probably the best investment you'll make second only to tires.

I many not use the Titan off road. I have thought about getting my wife a 12-14 year old LC/LX470 and using it as a family car and camping/exploring rig.

Not trying to talk you out of the Titan, just want to make sure you're okay with scratching up a brand new truck. I hit the trails the day after I got my new cruiser and haven't looked back since. If you're thinking about a cruiser as a trail rig I'm all for it but then again I'm a little biased.

The Titan will do a fine job getting you and the family to camp sites and down fire roads. Having the bed is always nice to because you can carry a lot more gear. It's more about having fun and getting out there, what a lot of guys around here in VA hate to admit is that 90% of the "trails" in GW National Forrest can be done in a stock Subaru.

yes. its bigger in all ways in the cab. when we bought the X, my son was not in the picture. now that he is, 2 adults, 2 kids and a dog is quite cramped!

the smaller full size part is excellent in my mind. and im not the type to worry about scratches and such, as its purpose is to explore. but a really good way to help with that is to get it wrapped. the wrap will absorb the scratches.

the towing is nice as well. but its a truck. and i need that so much more!

i guess it sums up to this. what the X has, the Titan has. what the Titan has, the X does not.
