Comments: This will be a slow build thread but this site has been great in helping me with my researching and seeing how I had a 1st gen, I know what I need to get that meets my wheeling needs, but at the same time, keeping it as my DD since I do a 50 mile commute each day.

Here's a short story about me and my passion for Xterras, I owned a 2001 Nissan Xterra SE in Alpine Green. It was my first 4x4 so I wanted to see how far it can go mod-wise, and I had installed Shrock sliders, Shrock Skids, Shrock front bumper with WARN XD9000, tons of off-road lights, many more to list. Sadly, there was some family trouble and I had to sell it to help my family out (Still wishing I kept it for trail rig). Here's a couple pics of it:

After I sold it, I got a Ford Explorer Sport Trac, it was a nice truck but it started having problems, with 8 visits to the dealership in less than 2 years with repeated results of not being fixed so I had enough of it plus warranty was about to expire so didn't want to be stuck with the out of warranty repairs so I traded it in:

Then after I traded it in, I had scoured every car lot looking for SUVs and none had what I wanted as capable of going off-road, recovery points, aftermarkets, etc so I decided to give the Xterra another try seeing I had owned one and it was the most reliable car I have ever owned, so took one out for a test drive and I was immediately sold on it! Bought a 2012 Xterra Pro-4x!

Looking good. One suggestion - you may wish to remove the mudflaps. If you get onto the trails, those have a habit of getting ripped off and potentially doing damage to the fender liners and bodywork. I know I removed both sets behind the tires, but not the ones in front of the rears and managed to rip one off on my first trip.

I like all that you have done on this rig and your first gen truck was just as nice. Keep it up. :smiley_drive:

I plan on removing them......I don't want to leave them bare though.....any ideas of a good rubber mudflaps out there?

Very nice mods! I love both Xs, especially your current PRO-4x, I'm envious

I'm curious, where'd you source the light switches?

Ordered from www.otrattw.com Excellent quality switches!

The reason I have an extra fuse box is because I want to add more accessories without tapping into my stock wiring/electrical. My auxiliary fusebox is wired directly to the battery using 4ga wire with 100A circuit breaker (Gonna switch it out to 60A) in between. So far, all of my lights are wired directly to the aux fusebox, plus it keeps the wires tidy and out of the engine bay (you've seen how people clutter the engine bay with bunch of wires tied to the battery, which isn't a good thing). Its great for not having to run every wire through the firewall from cab to engine bay or vice versa while everything can be inside the cab. Also great for CB's too.

So far, I have 20" LED Lightbar, 2 duallys, 10" SR LED lightbar, and 4 of 6" SR LED Lightbars hooked directly to my aux fusebox and I still have plenty of room for more accessories.

Any questions, feel free to ask.
