Just picked up a 1/4 ton Canadian M101 trailer. Manufactured in 1992. Got the trailer, it's mint. Just need a lid to last me til winter when I'll have the time to really personalize. Is there anyone that someone can refer me to that builds and ships these? Just looking for the lid and a hardware parts list. Thanks from Michigan!!

Just make one. Mine is made of 1 inch square tubing bolted together with L brackets and a piece of lucabond screwed to it. Have it done in an afternoon.

Most of us have either had a local fab shop do a one off or if you've got the skill and welder, DIY.

Search for M101CDN and you'll find a lot of build threads with ideas. Some put a flat lid on like above, others, like me have opted for a lid that mirrors the tub. This is the only pic I have here at work (my current screensaver) that'll give you an idea of that.

I'm building a lid for mine right now, and just about to skin it..
Started with a 1x1 base frame

Then started the upper frame using 3/4" square tube.

Added strength with cross braces

Finished lid skeleton, starting skin using 16g steel.

At the moment it presently weighs 70lbs
Here it is finished and bed lined

If you just need something to last a couple months pick up a heavy 5x7 tarp. My tarp.com sells heavy vinyl tarps for very reasonable prices. Add in a piece of bungee rope and you'll be good for the wet and snow. I used mine until I got my lid made up. Only downside is that it's not locking, but if you store indoors and keep an eye when traveling I've never had a problem.

Steel skin on frame is the typical setup here but it does add a lot of weight. On my M416 the rated capacity is only 500lbs, even though it will handle much much more than that. With that in mind I wanted to keep the empty weight to a minimum and designed a lid out of aluminum. Due to my local shops capabilities I made it four sections of 1/8 5052-H32 aluminum and then riveted the sections together. The pieces were laser cut and cnc formed. Total the lid is just under 50lbs. With the RTT I've only added about 180 lbs to the trailer.
