Just thinking here but would you trade a 02 Limited 4runner with 161,xxx miles (own out right) on it for a 2000 Lexus LX470 with a 125,xxx miles on it ($14,800)?

If you can handle the MPG difference (3-4MPG), it's a no-brainer.

Well if the LX has been maintained I would jump on it before the person comes to their senses. Do you know if the 90,000 mile service has been done? (T-belt)

I got 20 in the 4Runner and 16-17 in the LC (stock). Which means over 100k miles, (@ $4/gallon) the difference is $5k. Since my LC gets driven maybe 10k a year, that's $500 extra per year to run the LC. Well worth the difference to me. :elkgrin:
Seems like something is fishy here... Why would the LX470 owner want to make this trade? The 4Runner is probably worth half.

The vehicle is at one of the local Toyota dealers, a private party doesn't own it.

Actually 4runners have a pretty high resale value. I traded up from an 07 4runner (28K value) to an 01 Land Cruiser (18K value). Really happy with the move, maybe not the same scenario here though.
btw, the 01 LC Atrac is tuned about the same as the 07 4runner, so works well off road. I was worried about that, as Atrac was new in 2000 and obviously may have some updates in later models.
Mileage wise, I am not sure the LC does not work out close to the same as the 4runner, when set up the same. I almost made it from Denver to Moab on a single tank in the LC (same as the runner), full load with RTT, same armor set up as the 4runner vs the same load in the runner minus the RTT. Same tire size, as well 255/85/16. That was not the best explanation. I think I would have made it no worries without the RTT on the LC, like I did in the runner.
