Transfer Case Shifter Linkage ...ujoint folks?

Looking for some pics of how your linkage is mounted to the transmission.

Mine is not the normal ford auto trans but I am still using the nv271.

I’d like to see how the pivot point and shift gate are mounted as I need to fabricate something utilizing the two threaded holes I have in the transmission case (nv4500)

Any pics/tips would be greatly appreciated.

My helper was afraid of the fireworks and sought refuge exactly where I needed to be on my back.

Looks like if you span those two holes with a plate, with a hole in between for the Ford pivot it'll line up in front of that body rib. You'll likely have to re-bend the Ujoint shifter rod to get it where you want it. We use a bent piece of coat hanger to cycle the "shifter rod" and mark where to cut the floor.

edit: that link between the pivot and Tcase can be cut and shortened after you have the NV4500 side done

Thanks. Yea I actually went back and looked at the website and saw the link looked like it was shortened. Might end up doing that to keep the pivot closer to the two holes.

Do you guys use the ford shift gate thing that makes you slide the shifter rod a little to the side to find the Lo gear? Seems like it might just be an idiot proofing tool.

Lastly, the large bolt that holds the pivot, does it get a nut on the inboard side or does the Ford trans have a hole for it to thread into?

Originally that pivot bolt threads in, but we install a relocation plate for better shifter placement so it ends up with a nut on the back. We do use the factory pivot that has the "gate" for low range.

If you can get a photo looking up next time you have a van on the lift there kind of like the shot I posted, I promise I’ll bring by a 6er next time we’re up there
