Truck-Lite LED Headlight Flickering

Hello,
Shortly after I bought my 2006 E350 PSD I installed Truck lite 5x7 LED headlights and they are AWESOME. However, the issue I have with them is that if I do not pull the headlight switch out to "ON", they flicker, to the point where it looks like a strobe, it is NOT subtle. Now, I have had this issue the entire time they have been installed (about 1.5 years) and always thought I just had a regulator/ rectifier/ alternator type issue or a problem with the Day time running lights (DRL) module, So I just always drive with the headlight switch pulled "ON". But I was just reading that truck-lite sells a module to fix "flickering" on the Jeep JK LED lights... which made me think it may be the same issue (https://www.amazon.com/Truck-Lite-Headlamp-Anti-Flicker-Module-Harness/dp/B00F50T8GM).

Anyone have flickering Truck lite LED's that behave like mine?

If not, does anyone know how to check the DRL module without a oscilloscope to see if the frequency from that module is different then the headlight "ON" circuit?

Thank you,
-Dan

I'm fairly certain there is no PWM in the headlight circuit, so I doubt that will do much good. To check, simply look at the wiring diagram, no need for an oscilloscope. I don't think my 06 even has DRL, but I need to check.

I have the factory service manual and have reviewed the wiring diagrams before posting here. Also, section 97-1, in "Wiring Diagrams 2006 E-series" of the factory service manual is labeled "Daytime Running Lamps." The "Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) module" is also shown in the "Component Location Views" in section 151-1.

That module installed only in Canadian trucks? You might not find it there.

Interesting, Ive had mine installed for a little while now and have had no problems. I do not have daytime running lights tho. I bet the DRL module runs the light at a low voltage which would give you the flickering problem. I say find the module and disconnect it (if its possible) or just turn the lights on all the time.

On Canadian trucks the high beams come on for daytime running lights. However, they aren't half as bright as the headlights. This would support the lower voltage theory.

while I can't duplicate your Ford light switch with my Chevy switch, i'll just share my install of the same 5" x 7" LED lights has been behaving fine since the install in ~October 2013.
