Trying to convert IPF 968 to HID, any suggestions?

Just as the title states, looking for an hid solution for my driving lamps. If it can't be done I'm just going to end up getting the Kragens but I'd like to see if I can get these to work first. Thanks

I've had good luck so far with the conversion bulb kits off ebay. they are dirt cheap now a days too, like $35 for a pair. I didn't dig around too much on the 968s, I'm guessing they are H3 bulbs, maybe H4..? I've converted two sets of H3 housings and the H4 highbeams on my race car with these kits, back then it was about $80 for a pair.

A kit like this one, from ebay, will do it. ($40 shipped)

They don't list the 4300K, but the 5000K work just as well. I've used both in the past and can't really tell the color difference. Like stated, stay with the 35w bulbs, they still put out a lot of heat and could melt cheaper plastic housings. Heat is the biggest problem with the newer cheap all-in-one house HIDs offered. The ballast gets hot too and needs ventilation to keep working well. I've heard of people getting electrical potting urethane and filling the ballast housings to keep the vibration of off-roading from causing premature failures. I've got one pair that is potted and one pair that isn't on my race car, no trouble with either.

cheap decent hid kits

Yep, i'm going to suggest the DDM slim ballast 4500k H3 one for him $39.95. The larger ballast one ($29.95) would be fine, but may as well save some space in the engine compartment. No need to go crazy with the best of the best for a set of auxilary lights you aren't using daily. This is certainly not a $400 conversion like in the TTORA example.

The DDM kits look like the way to go, I'll have to remember that for my next conversion needs. They have an odd box in the high voltage line, wonder what that's for..? It might be a noise coil of some sort. At start up, HIDs are blasted with some pretty damn high voltage, then back down to around 600v, I think.

Exactly. Its more for aesthetics as they just look old yeller compared to these new hids. i'll be happy for the output upgrade but sometimes things such as that just bug the crap outta me. may just wait and get some led interior upgrades as well, how much of the interior can i buy there besides the dome light?
