Tube Miter

I generally use a tube notcher (hole saw type), but in certain circumstances, it is not possible (like when the notch is in the middle of a bend...). I have used a program I found on the 'net (free) to handle these cases. I thought everyone knows about it, but apparently not.

Basically, when you launch this program, you are asked for certain information (tube diameter, wall thickness, miter angle, etc), and the program outputs a drawing. You print this image, and wrap it around the tube in the appropriate place...transfer the image to the tube with a marker, and simply grind down to the mark. I have found it to be pretty accurate.

For those who occasionally find themselves needing a tube notcher, but don't have enough demand to actually purchase one...this program is great.

Thanks for the link, I haven't had my eyeball calibrated lately so this should help:coffeedrink:

I'll vouch for the ease of use... Goodtimes used it when we were working on the rear cage/rooftop tent mount for my Scrambler. It was one of the easier parts of this "easy" project that turned much more complex than anticipated...
