Two panels one battery

Would there any issue using two separate panels, each with a controller, on the same battery?

I have two different panels I want to use on the same battery. I'm not sure of the controller output specs.

Will be fine if the profiles don't match, so long as both same nominal output all works out

If you don't have the specs it's only an issue if you're some what concerned about the life of the battery.

Panels ratings combined vs controller rating. Controllers really don’t care what is providing the power as long as its within their rating - then they meter it out to the battery?.
500 watts to a $9 10amp controller probably will result in a puff of smoke on a sunny day?.
2 40 watt panels to a $9 10amp controller its happy go lucky for 25 yrs?

Mismatching panels reduces conversion efficiency A LOT.

Even with identical panels, the ideal is one MPPT per panel, especially for handling passing / partial shading conditions.

No different than having solar and an alternator. Once the battery is charged, they shut off. Depending on how they are set, one may turn off before the other. My solar has a higher setpoint than the alternator, I run full wattage out of the solar while cruising down the road.
