For sale is our much-loved Mercedes Unimog U500 Lifting Roof Camper. The mileage will continue to go up as we take short trips. Just back from over 500 miles in Utah and not a bleep mechanically speaking. The truck is literally a condo on very big wheels and as I always say, “The truck can go anywhere-it is the courage of the driver that actually decides where it goes”. The truck has been regularly serviced and maintained by the top U500 Unimog mechanic in the country-Terry Lee Enterprises in La Junta Colorado. I love this
“The truck can go anywhere-it is the courage of the driver that actually decides where it goes”

Obvious, but so true, and it made me chuckle you put this in your ad.

Really cool rig, I wish there were more pop ups like this rig... And I wasn't broke 😔

Amazing rig. Would love to see pictures of the upstairs bedroom (of sorts). What year was the rig built, and what year and who built the living unit - Phoenix Campers? Also what horsepower does the engine have, and what are normal cruising speeds and usual gas mileage on the highway? Finally, I understand these lifted roof units have problems in their gearing, because difficult 4x4 terrain can knock the alignment out to raise the roofs easily and/or the gearing itself fails. Has this ever been an issue for you with the vehicle - getting the raised roofing tracks and/or gearing readjusted or repaired because of off road travels?

Thanks Trabs. You can't own a rig like this and not have both a sense of humor and a willingness to chat with folks. Getting petrol is a social experience and for the most part a fun one. We took the rig on the Rim Rocker-Montrose to Moab. And there were a few moments when I definitely thought I had over extended my abilities. One could say Pucker Factor of 900! Channelmarker as I understand it and I am not overly technical many of the lifting roof mobiles have very heavy lifting roof and when they shift they get out fo joint. We have never, and now I will regret saying this, had an issue. Phoenix did the right job. I think it is something like 260 hp but we happily cruise at 67mph. To be honest I would not want to be able to go 90 in this thing. I sit equal to or taller than a semi at a red light. It is incredibly stress free driving at 67. We get 9-11 MPG Lucid-no clue mate sorry.

This rig is really awesome. Any idea if it will pass smog check in California? IE when you look under the hood does it have the 50 state emissions sticker? Something like this:
