U joints and my montero. any favorite brands

im sprucing up my first montero, a 1991. she has been a joy and wants to run.

im going through refreshing seals and joints. in the toyota sphere the only u joint is the factory joint.
in mitsubishi i dunno.

factory joints for the monty are available still at 106 each. do-able, but is there a proven favorite among you guys?
i'm doing rears only as the fronts are within spec.

thx all

You followed me, so now we're both lost
+1 for Moog
They have kept a lot of their manufacturing in the US and Japan. Always high quality. They have models with and without the grease fitting.

Spicer is also excellent if you know what size is needed. A call to their sales office might help with finding the right part. They are the strongest joints I have seen so far if you can find one that fits.

Toasty

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
If you can find a Spicer go with that. Moog fell off the planet recently, I got less than 40 miles out of the last balljoints from them.

thx fer this. its a real problem, getting good parts. musta made you real happy to hear that first klunk of a broken ball joint.

40 miles (or pick your number) would just about leave me stranded
a. in the midst of a city (portland)
or
B. in the middle of nowhere.
i'm leaning toward mitsu and shopping for price.

Well, let me clarify. They didn't break like the ebay cheapies do they just wore out all sloppy like. Also I have 37" tires. Not that should matter around town.

I'm Getting Around To It
Running 37" tires on a vehicle originally equipped with 31's...sure, I know Toasty's isn't stock anymore, but that's asking parts designed to replace stock stuff to do a lot...OEM parts aren't going to hold up a whole lot better is my guess.

ive used xrf brand with good result on bigger stuff ton trucks mostly. i did but xrf for my steering on this 91.

ball joints and big tires are a no win combo. just get good at changing on the fly i guess.
what about uniball style i see on toyotas?
