UL Bikepacking Quilt and Sleeping bag suggestions!

Hello:

I am in the market for a new sleeping bag or quilt for bikepacking. Im coming from a 1 pound 10 ounces Marmot Hydrogen 30 degree and am looking for something with better packability and less weight.

I have read a lot of reviews on Katabatic and Enlightened equipment quilts; as well as Feathered Friends and Western Mountaineering bags and am stumped as to what direction I should go.

Both feathered friends and western mountaineering bags are top quality and are proven to be so but they lack the versatility of the quilts.

Any thoughts from you guys who have used either of these in the field have any suggestions on what brands or what type to go with?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Check out Zpacks. They make ultralight gear. Their sleeping bag/quilts get good reviews. I ordered a twin quilt today.

I have had good luck with Enlightened Equipment, have a 20degree quilt that I have used several times, also just ordered one of their Prodigy synthetic quilts. Going to a quilt took a little bit of getting used to coming from a sleeping bag but as a person who tosses and turns while sleeping I enjoy the freedom a quilt provides. Lot of good companies mentioned, Enlightened seems to have good prices and customer service.

My wife and I have used our Enlightened Eq quilts for several years now. Probably over a 100 nights. Great quality and great price if he still sells his "seconds." Id pay full price too. Even my wife feels his temp rating are conservative, hers is a 20 deg and she has been comfy much lower.

You have a very good bag already. I'm not sure the investment you'd make would be worth the minor improvement over the Marmot bag. You could shave maybe 8 ounces by going Zpaks or Western Mountaineering, but it wouldn't be worth the dough ... Not to me at least.

I love my western mountaneering bag

Ultra lite and packs super small.

Worth every penny. But it does take a LOT of pennies :)
