Ultimate bike shuttle and travel rig

Well guys I'm a avid rover enthusiast and I like other things as well unfortunately so the time and money is split up between multiple things. One main one is biking.. downhill to be exact. I don't like pedaling because it wears out my chain :) I have a truck that is I think the ultimate shuttle rig for biking. Its 2wd so not the ideal situation but for the east coast it works out just fine. Its a 2008 Frontier crew cab. Crew Cabs are the only way to go IMHO. The vehicle gets around 19mpg loaded down and is bone stock except for the dvd / ipod / sd / AV jack head unit that is the ultimate in key travel to pass the time so you don't black out at the wheel. Its a discontinued model Pioneer unit I got for 415 shipped to the door from crutchfield (high recommended... might pay $20 more but well worth it on the tech support).

Anyways I figured I would show you guys my setup and hope I can ease some peoples troubles in the future. Get a Dakine pickup pad! worth the weight in gold! I have rigged up the AV RGB jack in the 2nd glove box of the Frontier so you can play back your helmet cam footage or camera footage on the go! Finally go to use it and man its just so awesome to relive that epic trail footage when you get back to the truck.

With 4-5 bikes in the back you still have plenty of payload capacity for a good solid weekend of shredding. Works great for a race rig also. Bring the charcoal, food, and cold beers! so you can make some tasty treats! Sorry for the sentence fragments and typos but I've been drinking.

Enjoy the pics!

Remember travel fast and light... but not to light!

... yes that is a street luge in the first pic :)

Looks good.

My only complaint with the Dakine pads is that if you get sand under them, kiss your paint goodbye.

Up here alot of guys run a wooden setup that is framed the length of the bed and runs up where the tailgate is to about the same height with a piece of carpet put on top. If you strap that into your bed you can take the tailgate off, and still have a rock solid riding setup without having to damage the expensive parts. You can also frame in some "storage" for bags/cans, whatever in the floor. Hell even seat pads if you want :D

Hard to explain so I drew a pic.

Or you can get one of those bed extenders. Well worth the $150 or whatever, IMO.
