Underside Repair and Paint

I recently bought a 2001 Hallmark Ute Lx camper. It seems to be in good condition, single owner, roof/canvas replaced at factory. Have used it a handful of times this summer and very happy with how everything works, though working on a list of enhancements.

First I want to ensure it is protected from the elements and maintains its structural integrity.

The plywood underside is separating in areas - pictures attached - mainly in the rear where the camper extends beyond the truck bed. The wood seems structurally solid, just the thin outer layer has separated. I called Hallmark and they said to use Gorilla Glue and then paint with an undercoat.

Looking for any recommendations/guidance from folks who have dealt with this before.

Thanks!

When I bought my Northstar it had a beat up bottom too.
We took the old stuff off, re-insulated and then put a new plywood bottom on that was thicker. I sealed the whole thing with a coat of epoxy I had leftover from another project.
It still looks new as we have a rubber horse pen liner in the truck bed.

Thanks. I was thinking about epoxy or maybe rubber sealant. I don't think the wood needs to be replaced as it seems remarkably good except the thin separation. Seems epoxy would be the most durable.

I use a stall mat also. FYI, another challenge I'm dealing with is my 2018 Chevy has a large radius at the tailgate (apparently 2016-2019 model issue) that "pinches" the base of the camper, at the tailgate area. I've use a wood frame and stall mat beneath the camper to raise it a little, reducing the pinch. I'm thinking of notching that section of the camper (as it's worn down already). If anybody else has dealt with this issue, I'd like to hear about it. Don't like raising the camper (center of gravity).

Thanks again!
